Abstract
Rice is a strategic and staple commodity in Indonesia. Rice consumption tends to increase every year, and there is a gap between the time of production and consumption of rice so that it is prone to experiencing scarcity in the growing season, making the government issue various policies to ensure the availability of rice and the stability of rice prices. This study describes the fixing of rice prices in Indonesia from an Islamic economic perspective. The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis with a literature review from various references related to the theme of the problem. The results of this study indicate that the determination of the price of rice in Indonesia is done through government policies that undergo various changes, but basically the same, namely the principle of the underlying price (floor price) and the highest retail price (ceiling price). As for when viewed from an Islamic economic perspective, the determination of the price of rice in Indonesia is in accordance with an Islamic economic perspective. However, the policy note issued by the government does not contain elements of tyranny and aims for the welfare of producers and consumers.
