Abstract

Research about work commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) have been quite common. However, research using these two variables to millennials working in Indonesia’s education industry is still rare to be found. Consequently, a solid conclusion is not well established yet. Contrary to the current research situation, both variables are necessary to be studied using this type of sample since Indonesia is currently a country with more than 60 million millennials. The fact becomes the foundation of this research with aim to test the legitimacy of variables that hypothesized to be predictors of work commitment and OCB, which are perception of organizational support and work satisfaction. Questionnaire for this research is distributed to targeted population of millennials workers in Jakarta and its greater areas, with a sample of 100 respondents. Path analysis using SmartPLS is done for the analysis. Research result shows that perception of organizational support impacting work satisfaction, whereas work satisfaction also impact work commitment and OCB. Yet, variable of work commitment is proven to have no impact towards OCB. Thus, researchers propose that for management in education industry, innovative actions based on characteristics of the millennial generation are needed. For future studies, further study on alternative variables that can potentially impact work commitment and OCB for this generation.
